Product Limitations

Hard Disk Support – RestoreX protects up to 16 IDE/SATA/PATA/SSD/M.2 hard drives and 12 partitions. It does not support SCSI, RAID configurations, or hybrid drives.

Booting From an External Media (OS) – RestoreX loses protection if an external or foreign (non-Windows) operating system modifies the hard drive. Booting from a CD-ROM or USB with a different OS may alter the hard drive and cause unpredictable results.

Conflicts With Disk Encryption Programs – Some applications like BitLocker, which proxy low-level disk I/O, interfere with RestoreX.

Compressed Drives – RestoreX does not function on compressed NTFS drives. To install RestoreX Pro, uncompress the drive first.

Disk Repartitioning – Repartitioning the disk requires uninstalling RestoreX first. Removing a protected drive from an array may cause issues.

Dual-Boot of Windows and Linux OS – RestoreX does not support Windows and a non-Windows OS (such as Linux) running on the same hard drive.

Defragmentation Programs – RestoreX blocks third-party defragmentation programs because it tracks sector changes, relocates some sectors, and maintains a sector location map. Defragmentation interferes with this process, so external programs cannot operate. The RestoreX Support Team recommends defragmenting the drive before installing RestoreX. To use a third-party defragmentation tool, uninstall RestoreX first, complete the defragmentation, and then reinstall RestoreX. RestoreX includes a built-in defragmenter as an alternative.

Important: RestoreX Pro works only on Microsoft Windows PCs. Do not install it on Microsoft Servers, Mac, or Linux operating systems. Always back up important data before installing RestoreX products.
